
Wafra Joint Operations has discovered new oil reserves in the North Wafra Wara-Burgan oilfield in the Partitioned Zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, the Kuwaiti and Saudi governments announced on Monday.
The new reserves were confirmed at the North Wafra (Wara-Burgan-1) well, located 5 kilometres north of the Wafra field. Crude oil flowed from the reservoir at a rate of more than 500 bopd, with an API gravity of 26-27 degrees.
Wafra Joint Operations is a 50-50 joint venture between Kuwait Gulf Oil Company and Saudi Arabian Chevron responsible for managing onshore activities in the Partitioned Zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The company is involved in the exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons in the region, with a focus on conventional oilfields.
